The Journal participates in the annual writing competition with the Catholic University Law Review and CommLaw Conspectus. The writing competition is open to all first year and second year day students, in addition to first through third year evening students. The competition takes place in the spring semester. In addition to the work product produced during the writing competition, the Journal selects its members based on their academic credentials while at the Columbus School of Law. Invitations to join the Journal are usually sent out in the month of July.
Newly selected staff members assist the Journal in various capacities. Typical duties include legal researching and writing, editing and, from time to time, administrative duties for the publication. All new staff members are required to produce a substantive note or comment over the course of the school year. A small selection of these works will be selected by the editorial board and published in a forthcoming volume of the Journal. The editing skills of all members are developed and refined in the preparation of articles for publication. Finally, there are leadership opportunities available to all returning members at the end of the year on the successive editorial board.
